January 13-14, 2011 - Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa
Winter Modeling 2011, held during the International Year of Chemistry, is dedicated to the Inauguration of the CECAM (Centre Européen de Calcul Atomique et Moléculaire) node located at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa along with the opening of the new national network M3-VILLAGE (Molecules, Materials, nanoMedicine - Virtual Integrated Laboratory for Large-scale Applications in a Geographically distributed Environment) dedicated to the technology oriented computations.
The scientific objectives of CECAM, M3-Village and the well-established 7th Project of the Molecular Design Department of CNR, have defined the scope and the topics of the current edition of WM workshop, which is devoted to the modeling of complex molecular systems in heterogeneous environments. These range from highly accurate studies of small molecules related to fundamental questions about space and time evolution of molecular systems, to modeling of realistic macro-systems with relevance to environmental, material and life sciences. Specific topics are also covered including nanotechnology, drug design and delivery, bio-sensing, photovoltaics, computational spectroscopy, and cultural heritage.
